The Rotation:
01.Mayabeya // Hidamari
Low-register instrumental. Sounds very clean, calming, and authentically old Western (as in reminiscent of baroque/pre-baroque European melodies). Highly recommended. ^_^

02.Rin' // Utakata no Yume (live '04)
More wonderfully neo-Japanesque Rin'. Intricately layered harmonies with background interjections ("ha!"), but not really any vocals beyond that. What can I say, I'm in an instrumental mood this week, and the addictive rhythm and subtly building intensity of Tomoca, Chie, and Mana's string-based trio does nothing to dissuade me.

03.Miyavi // Aho Matsuri
Myv. Quite frenetic, I had this stuck in my head for two days straight. Too much Myv=soo much pain, so be careful not to let this song loop on repeat. ;) Otherwise, it's a rocking upbeat song that makes me want to dance. Or run around the room in circles until the dizziness makes me fall. Often both.

04.Pierrot // Psychedlic Lover ~Remix
Here's where I decided to really go for some crack this week. :P The remix would be really rather innocuous if it weren't for the tamborine and the bubbly, cheesey little techno twangs. And, ya know, the drugs. Insanity is great.

05.Nightmare // Jashin to Bara
Ok... I haven't actually had time to finish listening to Naito's new album, but I also didn't have time to get the whole album up for the person who asked last week, and wanted to at least put up another track in case you haven't found it yet. Sorry!!! T_T

06.cali≠gari // Maguro
Crack + morbidity = gold. Start off with a train-crossing siren, overlay whistles and snazzy synth in a fun, festival-celebration atmosphere, but sing unflatteringly about a corpse of someone who commited suicide by jumping in front of a train (="maguro") and you've got a tasteless, disgusting, ingenius creation that mocks both the traditional aesthetic of death and the unquestioning apathy of the crowd. Intelligent social commentary with a catchy tune - this became one of my top ten favorite songs within the first three listens. XD

07.MUCC // Media no Juusei
This has a great piano+bass intro that hooks me every time. Tatsurou's voice is more than strong enough to carry the song with such sparse accompaniment until the driving guitars wail in.

08.Plastic Tree // Inori
As far as I'm concerned, the very idea of Pura covering Pete Seeger's "Turn! Turn! Turn! (To Everything There Is a Season)" is more than enough to label this song pure crack. Yes, somehow Ryutaro pulls it off beautifully with his smooth, measured croons, and he uses his own lyrics, and I know Pura loves Radiohead and often leaks Western influence, but... such a strange mental image. *Sigh.*

09.Kagrra // Sakura ~Saikai no Hana~ Acoustic Version Sakura ~Saikai no Hana~ acoustic live (clip)
This is, quite honestly, one of my least favorite Kagrra songs. It's grown on me a lot since I first heard it, but it's still a little too sentimental for my tastes, and the acoustic is endless. Hence the order: if you listen to the acoustic first, you'll appreciate the original that much more. :P However, the clip is enjoyable all around - you can tell how old it is from the first second the blinding light off Isshi's pants hits your eyes. ;)

10.SID // Toge to Neko Toge to Neko (Hosoikoe B-type Extra)
In contrast, one of my favorite SID songs. Mao's voice is fucking hypnotic, and his dancing is lame cuuuute. Shinji, on the other hand, is all-around sexy. The song's smooth guitar is equally captivating. ...Ahh, I don't have the words to do SID justice.
